This quite small centre for vacations has its coast dominated by an imposing castle, lying on top of polygonal Etruscan blocks of stone.
From here you can admire what it use to be one of the most important Etruscan ports of the old Cerveteri, “the Port of Pirgy”.
The city represents today a thermal resort between the towns of Santa Marinella and Tolfa, the oldest part of the city is constituted by a town surrounded by the walls of the Castle, which was built within the Middle Ages and enlarged in successive time by adding as a defence a triple line of walls.
Santa Severe takes its name by a Christian who was martyred there within the 2nd century.
